Dive Into Papal Politics in Crusader Kings 2: Sons of Abraham

Crusader Kings 2 is getting all religious on us with its upcoming fifth expansion, Sons of Abraham.

Becoming the most powerful dynastic ruler in all of Christendom means dealing with the Papacy, which is never easy in CK2. But what if you could get your own perfectly groomed candidate onto the throne of Saint Peter? Getting divorced would be a snap! That’s the challenge in Sons of Abraham, which adds Cardinals, the College of Cardinals, and more features that allow players to dive deep into Papal politics.

Paradox provides a detailed rundown of their goals in a post on the official Crusader Kings 2 forums, and Christianity is just one leg on this three-legged expansion. Islam and Judaism will also be represented, with players able to choose sides in the rationalist Mutazili or opposing Ashari debate or play as a Jewish lord and restore the Kingdom of Israel.

Paradox isn’t quite ready to share too many details about Sons of Abraham’s other religions just yet, but it promises more will be coming soon. We’ll keep you posted.

Crusader Kings 2: Sons of Abraham is set for launch on November 18.
