Dog Sucker Punch: Battlefield 4 Trailer Takes Shot at CoD

One of the highlights of Call of Duty: Ghosts appears to be Riley, a badass canine companion whose idea of playtime is attacking helicopters.

Evidently, DICE and EA don’t think as highly of Riley as I do. Enter the new Battlefield 4 campaign trailer, which includes a quick shot of one of the shooter’s main characters punching a dog — a German Shepard Riley clone, no less — in the face. There’s also a nice expletive thrown in for good measure. See for yourself in the trailer below (dog punch at the 1:36 mark):

Given the millions of dollars EA invests in these types of marketing campaigns and its history of taking shots at CoD, it’s tough to say this wasn’t intentional. I absolutely believe it was, and for the record, I think it’s hilarious. The dog ower/lover in me turns my nose up, but I can’t help but chuckle.

As for the trailer and the Battlefield 4 campaign itself, it looks to be more of the same. The campaign in Battlefield 3 was gorgeous and sounded amazing, but it was the same vanilla “roller coaster ride” on rails experience we’ve been playing over and over again since CoD 4: Modern Warfare. Hopefully DICE will mix things up a bit this time around.

As much as I prefer BF’s mp vs. COD’s, jesus EA needs to stop worrying about Activision and worry about themselves. They’ve been doing dumb like this for a while now.
