Don’t Starve’s Next Update Adds Turf Removal (UPDATE)
UPDATE: Turns out, Klei has already pushed the turf update to Don’t Starve, so it’ll pop up on Steam the next time you fire it up if you already own the game.
I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve been enjoying the early release/beta/whatever edition of Don’t Starve, Klei Entertainment’s survival title that has players chopping down trapping animals, chopping down trees and occasionally being eaten by those trees. And other things.
The game is a lot like titles such as Minecraft, but with more emphasis on procuring food and far less on building replicas of fictional spaceships. You start with nothing and slowly develop more tools and abilities as you fashion new things out of the stuff you find around you — like sticks and rocks into axes and shovels, and so on. Combining various different kinds of elements helps you to progress toward your goal of not-dying.
Klei is continually updating Don’t Starve for players who are currently embroiled in battle against the elements, and the newest addition to the title looks to be the addition of turf. That means you’ll be able to dig up grass and leave bare stone or sand beneath, apparently. Of course, you’ll be able to fashion that turf stuff into new tools and structures to help keep you alive, although we don’t know just what turf will be good for yet.
We do know when the new update is coming, though — Jan. 9. You can check out the teaser for it below. You can find Don’t Starve on Steam.
