Doodling + Physics = Fun!

xavierenigma physics game

Earlier, we saw an MIT engineer grad showcasing some really slick software that allows a user to draw objects on a virtual blackboard and then manipulate said objects with Newtonian physics and/or given mathematical equations. While this type of software works at a rather ambitious level, an author going by the internet persona xavierenigma has come up with a web-based (Flash to be exact) drawing applet that offers similar physics manipulation. Mind you, this is no where near as robust as the MIT grad’s offerings. Still, it’s a rather neat attempt considering the requirements.

Right now it’s a pretty basic design. You can see my lame attempt at a see-saw above. If anything this could turn into a neat little game or application. I’d personally like the ability to painlessly construct your own little mini-game by simply drawing and/or dropping simple scripting objects into a virtual backdrop. Are we witnessing the beginnings of on-the-fly casual gaming? The possibilities…
