Doom 3 Mod — The Dark Mod

No, it’s not a mod that makes Doom 3 even darker. This total conversion turns Doom 3 into a dark and moody stealth game inspired by the Thief series.

The world of Dark Mod is dark, gritty, and adult. Medieval castles, Victorian mansions, and Gothic cathedrals coexist in this immersive steampunk setting.

Also included is a version of the Doom 3 editor, called Dark Radiant. It comes with a number of Dark Mod related plug-ins like an Objectives or Conversation editor.

While this mod is first and foremost a toolkit (and ships with only a training mission), it provides people with all the tools necessary to create their own Medieval Steam-punk Fan Missions.

  • New/Improved AI
  • New Menu
  • Water you can swim in
  • New tools like rope arrows and gas mines
  • New models, sounds, and textures that fit the steampunk genre

Rope arrows: great tool in an FPS game, or the greatest tool in an FPS game?

Kinda reminds of RTCW a bit.

Please remove that teaser video it was posted in 2006 and has almost no relation to the content in 2011. There are several other videos on youtube with more recent content.

Thanks for sharing info about TDM. :) That teaser video is quite out of date and won’t give people a very accurate impression of the mod. Here’s a much better one–this is about four minutes of gameplay from the Training Mission that is included in the TDM download.

Thanks again,
Springheel (TDM developer)
