Double Fine’s Next Game: Sesame Street (VIDEO)
Tim Schafer, founder of Double Fine Productions and all around cool dude, made this video to demonstrate some new “texture technology” for future video games. Just go ahead and watch it, I don’t want to spoil it for you.
In fact, Double Fine just announced its next game, called Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster. It’s coming to the Xbox 360 and will utilize Kinect.
USA Today nabbed the announcement, and pulled the following quotes from the press release:
Described as an active explorable storybook experience for parents and children, the game ‘mixes original gameplay with a memorable learning experience,’ said Warner Bros. Interactive Senior Vice President Samantha Ryan in a statement.
Double Fine CEO Schafer added in the announcement that ‘Sesame Street had a profound effect on me, and many members of the Double Fine team, when we were children. So did video games. Now many of us are parents, and we want to share with our kids the great experiences we had, but also the completely new ones made possible by cutting-edge technology like Kinect for Xbox 360. So it’s a labor of love on many levels.’
A Sesame Street game is a departure for Double Fine, although their games have often been kid-friendly. The firm is just coming off the success of the downloadable title Stacking, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Like 100 pecent.
