Ten Ton Hammer got an exclusive with Lord of the Rings Phil Comeau and Adam Mersky at E3 this year, and a chance to talk about the next expansion for the Lord of the Rings: Shadow of Angmar Book 10. Mersky says players can expect Book 10 to be very different from Book 9: Shores of Evendim.

“I think Book 10 is going to be a real big deal,” he said. “Whereas Book 9 was all about big open spaces and adding 10% more to the game, Book 10 will be smaller scale but will add new features and lots of new quests.”

Some fun new features to look forward to are Chicken Play and the possibility of housing. Mersky said Turbine is readdressing housing and although details aren’t concrete, they anticipate a preview event this fall.

“We’re thinking that in the way a character has slots, housing will also have a vault with slots. You can earn stuff, say a carpet, and then you’d put it in your carpet slot and it would show up in the room.”

Players will also have the opportunity to earn unique goods and abilities by spending Destiny Points for the opportunity to play a ranger, a troll, or a chicken for a period of time. A Reputation System is also in the works to give players more clout or notoriety with different factions. Check out the article for more of the gory details.
