Relic: Company of Heroes 2 is a “Deep, Compelling Experience”

Like most PC gamers, we’re completely stoked about Company of Heroes 2. Obviously, we couldn’t wait to get our hands on it at E3, so when we got the chance to talk to Game Director Quinn Duffy, we jumped at it.

Check out the video below to hear him talk about True Sight, cover, and Order 227 in Relic’s newest RTS.

The real question that most of the CoH players actually has is “will they balance it properly?”.

The original CoH was brilliant, but the two addon factions in the expansion pack were very obviously created by a different design team and appeared to be deliberately designed to ignore every single basic mechanic that actually made the game popular. As a result, the new factions were horribly unbalanced and just ran around with huge blobs of doom so they were no fun to play as, with or against in multi and remain this way to this day, despite numerous tweaks in patches to try and at least get them to fit in slightly.

Suffice to say that I am not just going to rush out and buy a copy of CoH2. I’m going to be waiting until they actually produce a game that is actually balanced and *fun to play*. If they produce another frustrating Opposing Fronts type mess then I am voting with my feet and not buying it, and I suspect I will be far from alone in doing that.
