E3 2012: Sony Rumored To Announce Plus Revamp W/Vita Support

“By the way, if you don’t have a PS+ subscription, now is the time to get one. For real. Just get 3 months if you aren’t sure. Trust me.”

So says SCEA PlayStation┬«Plus Content Manager Ross Macgrath on Twitter. What’s he talking about? He isn’t saying, but rumor has it that Sony’s big E3 2012 press conference reveal is that they’re upgrading Playstation Plus, and plan on offering “proper integration with PS Vita.” This revamping of Plus will apparently also include ‘top tier’ games offered for free, whatever that means, games exclusive to Vita, and cloud storage for game data on your Vita without having to plug in to your PS3.

Whether or not these changes will make Playstation Plus a better experience is up for grabs. It’s clunky, hard to navigate and doesn’t do much that XBLA doesn’t already do better. And considering XBLA’s new layout, that’s saying something. Reportedly, Sony’s E3 press conference, scheduled for June 4 – and yes, I’ll be in attendance – will largely focus on this. We’ll let you know what transpires.
