Watch Dogs Coming in 2013 – Not a Next-Gen Game
There was speculation by some that Watch Dogs, the incredible-looking, newly-announced IP from Ubisoft, is in development for the next console cycle. According to the game‘s official twitter account, that’s not true. “The game will be released in 2013 and will be on released on PC and consoles,” tweeted @Watchdogsgame. Unless by “consoles” they mean the next generation will arrive unexpectedly in 2013 (it won’t), that means you’ll be playing this freshness on old hardware.
The speculation was in large part due to how visually stunning the E3 demo appeared, clearly utilizing some graphical powerhouse beyond the capabilities of an Xbox 360 or PS3. Turns out, it was just running on a very high-end PC, which as any PC gamer knows, can put the best of what consoles have to offer to utter shame, even today.
So 2013 it is. But if you want the game to look as spiffy as it did at the Ubisoft press conference, you’ll probably need to pick it up for PC.
