EA Announces Battlefield 3 Digital Retailers: Steam Not on the List

Yesterday, EA posted a list of the places you’ll be able to buy Battlefield 3 digitally. It appears that EA has taken the list down now (it was at this link), but it listed a number of places you could buy the game like Origin, Direct2Drive and GamersGate. However, Steam wasn’t on the list.

Pretty much everyone is aware of the recent incident between EA and Steam, when Crysis 2 was pulled from the service. At issue was EA’s desire to provide their own DLC and patches, and Steam’s policy forbidding it. At the time, EA said that they they would continue to post games on Steam.

However, with Steam not appearing on the list of BF3 digital retailers, you have to wonder if EA has decided to hold off on confirming Steam as a retailer until they resolve their little spat. We’ll drop EA a line and see if we can get a little more insight into the situation.
