EA: People Will “Want To Stay With” Battlefield 3 Even After Modern Warfare 3′s Launch

Battlefield 3 sold five million in the first week, and EA is anticipating holding on to many of those gamers even after the launch of the much anticipated Modern Warfare 3 next week. Says Patrick Soderlund to IGN:

The holiday season is clearly very competitive, as we know,” he said. “We all respect what Call of Duty brings and what they’re going to come with, and I think that we have an industry-leading multiplayer game that will make people want to stay with us, frankly.

If you look at all the reviews that we’ve gotten, not a single one that I’ve seen has been negative towards the multiplayer. In fact, many state that the multiplayer is the multiplayer experience to have, the best in the world. And if I can continue to harness that and work on improving that and give the consumers more of that, then hopefully they’re going to feel loyal to us and stay.

It’s going to be an interesting race between the two, certainly, but I don’t feel comfortable calling it one way or the other until we see how MW3′s launch goes. Anything could happen at this point. The possibilities are endless.

Well, the only people buying MW3 will be those that don’t have computers good enough to enjoy BF3. MW3 is the same thing as MW2, which was the same thing as COD4. Seriously, the same sound effects in MW3 this many years later? I’ sorry – BF3 is bay far the better game… its only a matter of: your PC sucks so you need a game with way dated graphics (MW3) or you have such a low IQ that arcane gameplay (MW3) is preferred.

Yeah Ray…Have you and Patrick Soderlund been living in a bubble w/all the negative press about the problems EA’s been having w/the online…I’m sure EA is doing a fine “spin job” and don’t need your BF brown nosing elitist opinions…enjoy the game and do the rest of us a favor and shut the F@#$ up…it’s people like you that give BF fans a bad name.

BF3 Multiplayer sucks butt!!! Can’t we design a game that lets you play with friends on the same squad or quit after a match!! WTF is this garbage. Everyone knows the multiplayer experience sucks but will not admit to it!!!!

Both games suck. Play some Quake 3 Arena like a real man already.
