EA “Rolling Off” Some Folks

The layoffs are coming at EA, but the company says it ain’t no thang and that this kind of thing happens ever year. EA corporate spokesman Jeff Brown, speaking with Joystiq:

As you know, seasonal roll-offs that follow game launches are common and vital to maintaining a healthy business. Because so many of our games ship in the holiday quarter, the team size adjustments tend to follow in the same timeframe. However, EA is growing and several of our studios are looking to hire talented people.

No word on which of EA’s studios are laying off folks. Danger Close and DICE just shipped Medal of Honor, so either of them seem like possibilities.

But, hey, don’t be blue, guys. While it may seem like a bad situation, being laid off right before the holidays, there are plenty of seasonal jobs available at retail stores. Just tryin’ to help!
