EA: Star Wars Battlefront Likely to Hit Shelves in Summer 2015

Battlefront 1 and 2 garnered a colossal fanbase that’s been clamoring for a sequel—Battlefront 3—to be released. While the death of LucasArts may have put a damper on the proceedings, the series remains alive thanks to Electronic Arts and DICE, which latched onto the franchise as soon as it became available for them to pursue.

Thanks to a deal with the Walt Disney Company, EA DICE will be developing a sequel to Battlefront. Titled simply Battlefront, the game is regarded as a reboot of the franchise and was first announced this past May.

Today, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said EA expects to bring Battlefront out “alongside the new Star Wars films, probably in summer 2015.”

He made the statement during the Q&A session at today’s EA investor conference call. We expect to hear more about the game as the date nears.

I don’t think anyone should really care about something scheduled for release in roughly two years time.

I certainly hope that they don’t try and get hype going now and try to sustain it for the next 20 odd months.

This game is totally going to just be battlefield now, isn’t it?

And it’s going to totally suck, now, isn’t it?

Ugh…

Walt Disney, Star Wars, and EA.

This could be an epic fail they write stories about.

The original battlefront was great but anything that comes from ea has to be inspected first to make sure they just aren’t selling you a cardboard cutout of a game.

Making battlefront 3 is really something that isn’t hard.

Same gameplay w/ better engine (physics, fluid animation, so on)
better AI
HD.
And if you want to stretch it, bigger maps.

And knowing EA that is exactly what they WONT give us. It will be battlefield with storm troopers, lightsabers, and the new features developers are finding “NO SINGLE PLAYER!” that they think we all love.

@John Adams

If you believe a single press release from a company working under EA to be ‘fact’ or even remotedly true at all, sadly, you’re the retard.

@John Adams: Developers and publishers say they’ll do one thing and then do the opposite. Taking DICE at their word is just being naive.

@John Adams

If you FOLLOWED the news, you would learn that EA and DICE say a lot of crap.
