EA Will Offer Free Game To Appease SimCity Players

Earlier today, EA Maxis’s Lucy Bradshaw confirmed that it would be unable—or unwilling—to create an offline mode for SimCity to solve the problems currently being faced by its players. The company reasoned that the game’s online architecture was tired directly into the game, and as such, creating an offline mode would require a significant amount of reengineering.

To that end, Bradshaw offered that players affected by these issues will be given a free game as an apology.

“And to get us back in your good graces, we’re going to offer you a free PC download game from the EA portfolio,” Bradshaw said. “On March 18, SimCity players who have activated their game will receive an email telling them how to redeem their free game.”

“I know that’s a little contrived – kind of like buying a present for a friend after you did something crummy. But we feel bad about what happened. We’re hoping you won’t stay mad and that we’ll be friends again when SimCity is running at 100 percent.”

EA may not have any plans to create an offline mode for the game, but we hope that they will be able to solve its problems over the weekend.

How about ‘Mass Effect 3: The Version That Makes Sense.’ Or ‘Ultima 9: The Version That Works.’ Not really getting back in peoples’ graces when you ignore their problems and instead use it as a cynical means of getting them to play more of your games, which given the company’s record are probably also glitched.

Hope all you Sim City players enjoy your free copy of minesweeper.

Really, how exactly would it require so much engineering? Patch it so saves are on your computer, that the connection only requires you to be authenticated and IF you want to do multiplayer, you connect to a server.
Cause guess what guys, if you don’t do it, some guy who hacks the crap out of the game will.

Everyone should just boycott EA until they stop being idiots. I Genuinely have enjoyed many games they’ve put out. But now i wish they’d shut their faces and use their brains for the first time in about two years.
