Ed Boon on Mortal Kombat Vs. DC: "Everything's Going to Make Sense When You Play the Story Mode"

When it was first announced that the next Mortal Kombat game would pit the “kombatants” against the DC universe, most people were understandably taken aback. After all, most gamers are fairly familiar with both franchises and the idea of putting them together just seems downright silly. But wait, we just haven’t played through the story mode yet; that’s when it will all make sense. At least, that’s what Ed Boon is claiming in the above video. He mostly tries to explain how this whole pairing up will really work, as well as some of the changes made to the fighting system. He also reveals that, though¬†the game will not feature fatalities, it will include some “brutal” finishing moves. Basically, no one will get killed, but maybe hurt very very badly. It reminds me of that part in Terminator 2 where John Conner tells Schwarzenegger not to kill anyone, so he proceeds to shoot everyone in the kneecaps. Frankly though, I don’t care if they craft the best story ever to explain why these two universes are colliding; it’ll still be weird. Even when they do cross-universe matchps in comics, it usually feels a little hokey.

Are you seriously complaining now that Batman will finally be in a game that doesn’t totally suck balls?

Goah… This game is going to totally suck. I wanted to see Batman get owned like with a fatality!

MK to me was never a very good fighting game. This would have been news of the century if Capcom would be making this crossover instead.

Nevertheless lets see what is being offered and what fighting engine of MK they intend to use. So far, just hearing the idea, I give it thumbs down unless they totally revamp MK as a whole.
