Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Modders Announce New Project

Last week, we told you about Project Reality 2, the standalone, free-to-play multiplayer shooter from the same folks who created the stellar Project Reality mods for Battlefield 2. Continuing on that mod to mainstream theme is Unwritten: Echoes of Twilight. It’s an open-world fantasy RPG from the same folks behind the amazing The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion mod, Reclaiming Sancre Tor. And you can help make it a reality.

Kotaku directs us to the Unwritten: Echoes of Twilight Kickstarter, which seeks $500,000 to create a hardcore role-playing adventure by RPG fans and for RPG fans.

“In modern games, immersion, interactivity, and customization are often watered down by major studios, resulting in diluted replay value and degradation of the ‘role play’ nature of the games,” the devs at Druid Gameworks state. “As RPG gamers ourselves, Druid Gameworks understands all those fun nerdy things RPG gamers want to see, or do, and we plan to give it to them in spades.”

Fittingly, Unwritten’s storyline is, well, unwritten. Druid says gameplay will be completely player driven, “meaning you create your own game experience as you play and develop your avatar’s story. As you explore our universe and make your choices you will lock and unlock different experience pathways with every play through.”

The ambitious RPG is being created using Havok’s Vision Engine, and Druid hopes to create PC, Xbox Live, and PlayStation Network versions. There’s not much completed on it just yet, but you can check out the official Kickstarter page for concept art and a brief animation test.

It’s also worth noting that when we created our wishlist of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim mods, Reclaiming Sancre Tor was at the top of the list.

28,268 Unique Downloads of Sancre Tor, I think they are being exceptionally optimistic by requesting 500k, especially for a new unproven studio. Only a fraction of the people that downloaded a free mod would fork out money for more from the same team, they will be lucky to hit 200-300k.

Personally I am not supporting them mainly because I do not trust that it would ever be completed but also the minimum pledge for the game is $30, Project Eternity only cost $20. One half decent mod does not a good resume make.
