Mounts Guide

Each major city in Tamriel has a Stable for buying, selling, and managing mounts. Buying mounts is expensive, so check out the info below to decide before you buy.

Once a Mount is active in the stable, press [Default: H] anywhere outside of combat to mount or dismount. A second stamina bar will appear and override your own, as well as provide extra speed and inventory slots.

Mounts also give some protection from damage. Horses will absorb two-four hits from enemies before disappearing and leaving the rider stunned.

  • Stable Management

To improve your new mount, visit the Stable Merchant and switch to the third tab. This is the Stable management window. Here you can see what level your horse is and their current stats in speed, stamina, and capacity.

To change a horse’s name, click the paper and quill icon to the right of the preview image.

To upgrade a horse’s level, click one of the three feeding options. Each type of feed costs 250 gold. Once purchased, a horse can’t be fed again for a 20 hour period.

    Types of Feed:

    • Apples: Increases Speed by 1%
    • Hay: Increases Stamina by 1
    • Oats: Increases Capacity by 1.

Leveling up capacity instantly increases your character’s inventory while the mount is selected. Only one mount can be selected at a time.

More mounts can be stored in your stables. To purchase more slots, press [Default: F] or select the option at the bottom of the merchant window. The first slot costs 10 Gold, the second slot costs 100 Gold, the third slot costs 1,000 Gold, and so on.
