Enjoy Your First Look At LEGO Minecraft

Less than a month after announcing the new playset, the world can now get its first glimpse at the upcoming Minecraft LEGO playset. The first photos of the LEGOized version of Minecraft have hit the Internet on Jinx.com. The 4 photos show Steve, a Creeper, and three views of your basic Minecraft world; they look scarily accurate right down the blocky aesthetic. Each playset includes 4 Minecraft modules and hidden resources, plus extra wood, dirt, and stone pieces. You’ll also get two “Micro Mobs;” Steve and a creeper.

Obviously, this is kind of unsettling. While not quite on the level of turning an RTS game into a old style board game, it does have a peculiar self-reflexiveness. On the other hand, I’ve always felt that Minecraft is the game that the LEGO-branded games should be, but aren’t. Now, if LEGO could only authorize a LEGO game that encouraged actual creativity, I’d be a happy, happy human.
