Epic Games is Working on “Triple-A” Title, Several Smaller Games
Epic Games founder Tim Sweeney has revealed that the studio is currently working on multiple projects in every tier, ranging from a single triple-A title to several projects of varying scale.
According to Eurogamer, Sweeney made his comments at the recent Develop Conference, where he talked about the studio’s focus on a “bigger, triple-A shooter project that hasn’t been announced yet”, along with “really tiny projects with two or three guys working together as a team for a few months in small scale development.
“We’re building Fortnite, a PC online game which is fun, sort of Minecraft meets Left 4 Dead,” he said. “It’s a 35-person team. It’s not aiming to beat Call of Duty in terms of graphics. It’s more of a Pixar art style and a limited project in scope, just aimed at fun as opposed to massive breakthroughs in scale.”
“We’re testing our development at all scales and learning it as we go. We’re trying to master development at every scale,” said Sweeney.
Last week, the studio put up a job listing for a “Competitive Online Action Game.” It’s unknown whether the triple-A title in development at the studio refers to said game.
