Epic Games Says They’re Not Working on a New Unreal Title
There’s been some speculation of late around the ‘net that Epic Games could be working on a new Unreal game. Outside of Unreal Tournament 3, the last title in the series was Unreal 2. Lots of gamers had their hopes up that when Epic finished work on Gears of War 3 (click to check out our walkthrough), they’d turn their attention back to their iconic franchise and create Unreal 3. Unfortunately, it looks like that’s not going to be the case.
In an interview with Forbes, Epic President Mike Capps had this to say about Unreal:
Unreal and Unreal Tournament continue to have a huge influence on the studio here, even though we’re not currently working on an Unreal IP project.
So, it looks like there’s no Unreal title in the works. That actually bums me out a little bit, as Unreal is one of the titles that longtime PC gamers spent lots of hours on in the past. It’s also the game that made the whole Gears of War series possible. Still, it’s certainly not out of the realm of possibility that a new Unreal title could appear on the horizon in the future. Let’s just hope that Epic decides to bring it to life sooner rather than later.
