Epic’s Mark Rein Teases Unreal Tournament Announcement

An enthusiastic tweet from Epic’s Mark Rein could hint at brand new life for classic shooter Unreal Tournament.

Earlier today, Epic Games Vice President and Co-founder Mark Rein posted a tweet that should get old school PC gamers everywhere excited, because he teased an announcement of something related to Unreal Tournament, a franchise has been all but unheard of since 2007′s Unreal Tournament 3.

After this tweet Rein pointed to the Twitter account of Epic’s VP of Product Development, Paul Meegan. Meegan revealed a stream that will take place on Thursday, May 8 at 2 PM EST on the Unreal Engine Twitch channel. More importantly, he had this to say:

Could this be a version if Unreal Tournament in Unreal Engine 4? If so, I’m definitely all in for it. I just hope that it isn’t a browser-based game like Quake Live. I feel certain that there are plenty of people like me who’d happily pony up for a new retail Unreal Tournament. Let’s just hope Epic is on board.
