Euro PSN Gets Final Fantasy I and II

Square Enix has posted on its French Facebook page that it’s bringing Final Fantasy to the Playstation Network next week, with Final Fantasy II coming on March 2.

Here’s the kicker, though: the company plans to charge €9.99 for each. That’s about $13.50 U.S. for a pair of ancient RPGs. Final Fantasy II appeared on the NES when it made its way to the U.S. — almost $15 for these two old games seems like an ambitious price point for Square.

Apparently, though, you can get a “deal” on the two downloads if you’re willing to spend a little more money. Snag Dissidia 012: Final Fantasy and The 3rd Birthday on the PSP (in Europe) and you get a coupon to cut the price for both downloadable Final Fantasies in half. Lucky you.

As a point of comparison, allow me to point out that you can get Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II on iPhone right now for $8.99, but Final Fantasy will run you $14.99 on the PSP if you get it used from GameStop. So maybe the PSN network isn’t that high, but it sure feels high to me.

Ah, gee, you’re right. Probably because Final Fantasy hasn’t been that interesting or relevant since I was in high school. Whoops.
