Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture Won’t Be Coming To PC

Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, a game in development by Dear Esther creators thechineseroom, will be a PlayStation 4 exclusive. That means the game won’t be coming out on anything other than the PS4, so won’t be able to play the game on the PC, at least not for the foreseeable future. The game stands among the indie lineup of games for the PS4 and PS Vita.

According to the game’s creator Dan Pinchbeck, it wasn’t possible for the studio to develop the game independently, so they had to seek out the help of a third party, which in this case was Sony, to make the game a reality.

“We don’t have enough money or production expertise to make this game without help,” said Pinchbeck in a frank interview with RPS. “We don’t think we can raise enough through Kickstarter or public alpha to make this happen. We could do with production support on a game this scale. We’ve always wanted to make a console game. Publishers have bad reputations all too often. Hey, Sony Santa Monica are great though. We’ve met them a few times and really like them and their attitude.”

The reality is what it is, but it’s still disappointing that it’s not coming out for the PC.

oh what the
way to abandon the platform that brought you any and all of your success, Pinchbeck. I used to think you were cool

And this is where I completely lost interest in this project, or whatever else Pinchback will create in the future.
