Fake Trailer for The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct Has Real Game Footage

A leaked trailer for Activision’s upcoming FPS, The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, has been denounced to have been created by a fan, after public outrage over its quality.

A PR representative working on the game confirmed to Giant Bomb that the trailer itself was not edited by anyone at Activision or its agencies. The rep said:

“That trailer that’s going around on ‘TWDSurvivalInstinct’ channel isn’t official. It is a fan edit. It looks like they pulled gameplay from the first reveal which was on IGN’s Up at Noon last week.”

The rep went on to explain that the footage used in the trailer was from an in-development build, though exactly how far along it was wasn’t made clear.

If you haven’t seen the “fake” trailer, here it is:

One thing to bear in mind is that, while the editing can be hand waved away, the footage itself is still from the game, early build or not.

It may be a fake trailer, but that actual gameplay footage looks pretty bad. It looks like an inferior verison of dead island, and dead island wasn’t even that great of a game. I know it is early footage, but still, doesn’t look promising.
