Fallout: New Vegas Skill Magazines

So many key moments in Fallout: New Vegas involve passing those pesky skill checks. Skill books can become a little overpowered if they’re too abundant, so Obsidian hit on an ingenious solution: skill magazines! Consumed like books, the magazines provide a temporary stat boost, just perfect for talking your way past an pesky NPC or tackling that difficult lock. Knowing where the closest skill books are can be crucial to passing a particularly quest, so take advantage of this list, and you’ll know where they all are at a glance!

Tales Of A Junktown Jerky Vendor (Barter)

  1. Allied Technologies Office – On the floor of the southwest corner of the large office room to the left of the entrance.
  2. Cap Counterfeiting Shack – On the suitcase by the bed in a the smaller back cellar room.
  3. Primm – Head inside of the Bison Steve Casio; it will be on the floor with a safe behind the counter of the gift shop.
  4. Vault 22 – On the Pest Control level, you’ll find it on a table with the bubbling test tubes in a lab room.

Nikola Tesla And You (Energy Weapons)

  1. Hidden Valley – Move west of the central passageway and head inside Schuler’s office in Bunker L1. It will be in the white plastic bin by the desk.
  2. Old Nuclear Test Site – Right there on the small table opposite from the entrance.
  3. REPCONN Headquarters – Inside the locked shipping room with the collapsed ceiling; it will be on the top of a safe in the corner.
  4. REPCONN Headquarters – Up on the 2nd floor in the northeast server room,
    on the table with the terminal in the far corner.

Duck And Cover! (Explosives)

  1. Mojave Outpost – Inside the bar and barracks building, you’ll find it on the bottom shelf in below the bar counter.
  2. Nellis Air Force Base – Inside of Mother Pearl’s Barracks, you’ll find with the other books on the bookcase.
  3. Sloan – Head into the small barracks. Near the bunk beds, look in the left locker, on the shelf below the First Aid Box to find it.
  4. Ranger Station Foxtrot – In the tent, you’ll find it on the table next to the radio.

Guns And Bullets (Guns)

  1. Nevada Highway Patrol Station – Head into the first room you come to after the entrance. It will be on the desk without the terminal, near the door leading to the cells.
  2. Gomorrah – On the first low bookshelf on the left side of Big Sal’s office in the Zoara Club.
  3. Vault 34 – Inside of the Armory Common Room, you’ll find it on a small metal table between the sofas by the pool table.
  4. Raul’s Shack – To the left of the entrance of the shack, you’ll find it on the small wooden crate on the floor at the foot of the metal shelves.

Pugilism Illustrated (Hand-to-Hand)

  1. Fisherman’s Pride Shack – On the bedside table inside the shack.
  2. Nipton Road Rest-stop – Look for the store marked “Lester” and head inside. It will be on one of the wooden bookcase shelves.
  3. The Tops Casino – In the Presidential Suite, on a small table near the pool tables.
  4. Vault 11 – Inside the living quarters (Female Dorm #1) by the fallen dresser.

Tumblers Today (Lockpick)

  1. Wolfhorn Ranch – Inside of the farmhouse, under the refrigerator.
  2. The Prospector’s Den – Head down into the underground section of the cave system; it will be on the floor in the large barracks room in the far right corner.
  3. Bitter Springs Recreation Area – On the office desk in the smaller room to the left of the office shack.
  4. Silver Peak Mine – To the right of the entrance of the shack, it will be on the ground lying in an open locker behind 2 small tables.

D.C. Journal Of Internal Medicine (Medicine)

  1. Followers Safehouse – On the table shelf next to the bed in the 2nd room.
  2. Mesquite Mountains Crater – Located inside Hell’s Motel, you’ll find it below the globe with the hat on it, on the table with a repair kit and radio to the right of the entrance.
  3. Novac – Inside of Ranger Andy’s motel room, in the middle of the big bed.
  4. HELIOS One – Located at the very top floor, use the planks in the room with holes in the floor to get there. It will be on the bed with a pillow in a room with the Holotape password.

Grognak The Barbarian (Melee Weapons)

  1. Cottonwood Cove – Head to the upper floor of the Headquarters and find it on the shelf of the table next to the bed.
  2. Hidden Supply Cave – On one of the large metal crates inside the cave.
  3. Cannibal Johnson’s Cave – Near the cave campfire, it will be on the mattress next to the ham radio.
  4. Jacobstown – On the floor, next to the cooker inside the eastern bungalow (near the pond).

Dean’s Electronics (Repair)

  1. Abandoned BoS Bunker – In the area across from the Reloading Bench, you’ll see it on the metal sill inside the office.
  2. Sloan – Inside the barracks, look above the corner bed on the shelf between the dino toy and radio.
  3. Southern Nevada Wind Farm – Inside the shack on the table with the clipboard and scrap metal.
  4. Nellis Air Force Base – Inside Loyal’s workshop shed, you’ll find it on the long metal table next to a broken terminal.

Big Book Of Science (Science)

  1. REPCONN Headquarters – Inside the Gift Shop, look on the shelf by the rocket souvenirs.
  2. Camp Forlorn Hope – Inside the Command Center tent at the far right corner on the desk.
  3. Nipton – Head up to the top floor of Town Hall; It will be on the mayor’s desk on next to the Programer’s Digest magazine.
  4. Brewer’s Beer Bootlegging – In the basement of the shack, on the table with the chemistry equipment.

Chinese Army: Spec. Ops Training Manual (Sneak)

  1. Vault 3 – On a bookcase inside of the executive dorm.
  2. Goodsprings – Go East of the schoolhouse and into the ranch house; you’ll find it under a book on the bookcase.
  3. NCR Sharecropper Farms – In the ranch house, you’ll find near it the four fertilizer hoppers, on some papers by the corner desk.
  4. Camp Searchlight – In the East chapel basement with the geckos on the floor, at the foot of the metal shelves.

Lying, Congressional Style (Speech)

  1. Cerulean Robotics – On the floor among the office desks.
  2. NCR Correctional Facility – Inside the Administration Building, it will be on the desk in the dark room opposite of Eddie’s room.
  3. Lucky Jim Mine – Inside the shack, it will be to the right of the empty fridges on a metal shelf.
  4. Brooks Tumbleweed Ranch – Upstairs, you’ll find it in an open locker shelf.

Wasteland Survival Guide

  1. Scavenger Platform – On the northern platform section, it will be with a group of other books under the fallen metal bookshelf.
  2. Lone Wolf Radio – Inside the radio trailer next to the mattress.
  3. Mesquite Mountains Camp Site – Inside the western tent behind the rolled-up bed.
  4. Matthews Animal Husbandry Farm – On top of the balcony of the northern barn near the barrel crate.
