Friends for Eternity

The incredible ending theme of Blood Dragon comes from the band Dragon Sound featured in Miami Connection.

Acquired by Drafthouse Films, Miami Connection was a lost film before it was rediscovered — it’s other featured song, “Against the Ninja” had to be another contender for the ending theme in this Far Cry 3 expansion.

Distract Enemies… Nerd

In Far Cry tradition, the hero can distract enemies with a limitless supply of rocks. In Blood Dragon, the rock has been replaced with a 20-sided die, more commonly known as a d20.

Take Out the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

One predator missions tasks Rex with hunting turtles in the sewers. There are four turtles that need to be killed. There’s even a pizza box in their sewer lair.

Just so we’re clear; the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are humanoid turtle-creatures that fight crime with Ninjitsu. They love pizza, they’re named after famous Renaissance artists, and they each wear a different colored mask as an identifier.

Sadly, the turtles in Blood Dragon are not mutants. They’re just plain turtles — except they’re all wearing those trademark masks. They’ll also attempt to take the protagonist out with some sneaky traps. The turtles rolls explosives, light up gas leaks, and sic crocs on Rex.

They can’t be harmed with gunfire either. Just like in real-life.

Seasick Scientist

You might remember the seasick soldier from Far Cry 3? The toilet-bound NPC returns in Blood Dragon.

Find a scientist coiled over an underwater toiler at the coordinates X: 531.2, Y: 321.5.

It’s a Bug Hunt

Check out the ancient ruins at X: 479.1, Y: 488.3 to find a slimey surprise.

That’s right. Biehn faces off against an old nemesis — the xenomorph egg from Aliens makes a cameo appearance.

Giving the Finger

Try to zoom-in with a weapon missing a scope. Our hero Rex will extend his middle finger proudly and flip off defiantly.

Weapon References

The weapons themselves are references to other famous ’80s films. The standard pistol looks just like Robocop’s signature firearm.

The shotgun is a replica of the iconic weapon used in Terminator 2 during the L.A. aqueduct car chase.

Manly Arm-Grasp

During an early cutscene, a scene from Predator plays out in earnest.

Two comrades grasp hand in the manliest way possible.

So I’ve just noticed that the bombs you plant at the dam have the number 514-2112-666 on them. Is that a reference to anything?

What about when finding Collectables Rex says ” at least its not damn feathers/flags” which is a reference to assassins creed 1 And 2. Also one of the last missions you go to a temple and it says “test your might” which is referencing Mortal Kombat
