FarCry 3 Has 4-Player Co-Op, Map Editor
Sony added more than a few dashes of Ubisoft sauce (called Ubisauce) to their official press conference menu earlier this evening, and FarCry 3 was a part of the offering. While we’ve heard a little about the game‘s single-player campaign already, today a four-player co-op mode was announced, and subsequently demoed live at the presser.
Mechanically, the co-op mode looked a bit Left4Dead-ish, in that it was fast-paced, enemy bodies were stacked high and there was a focus on protecting your buddies while they do dangerous things.
The demo showed the four players battling through a few waves of baddies in a tropical setting, coordinating on a bridge to set an explosive, and coming to each other’s aid when overwhelmed.
Also, Ubisoft threw this out there–like FarCry 2 before it, FarCry 3 will have a map editor, where you can create your own stuff.
This is all well and good, but neither four-player co-op nor map editors are revolutionary, so we’re interested to see how this all comes together in FarCry 3. We’ll be taking a closer at the game this week at E3, so stay tuned to our E3 channel for more.
