UPDATE! Fargo: Wasteland 2 Beta “Within 2.5 Weeks”
UPDATE: It appears Brian Fargo’s November 25 prediction that the Wasteland 2 beta would be ready for backers “within 2.5 weeks” was accurate.
In an update on the official Wasteland 2 Kickstarter page, developer inXile stated, “We’re fully on track to put it in your hands next week!”
That would mean sometime between December 9 and 15, which would land it within Fargo’s 2.5 weeks.
One other note: if you’re a backer but didn’t contribute enough with your original pledge to get into the beta (which was originally set at the $55 tier), you can throw inXile some more money for your ticket in. The Wasteland 2 Backer Store will be closing once the beta launches, inXile said, and there is a beta access add-on available for $20. Personally, I contributed $15 the first time around and thought that also got me into the beta (along with all the other backers below the $55 mark). Sorry for the misinformation in my original story below.
So if you do want in on the Wasteland 2 beta next week, make sure you were above the original contribution cutoff or chip in another $20.
Brian Fargo made a pitch for $900,000 to make Wasteland 2 back in spring 2012. Supporters gave him nearly $3 million. In under three weeks, we should finally get to see what the inXile team did with all that dough.
Feeling very confident that #wasteland2 beta will be ready within 2.5 weeks. Knocking down the list of annoying things very fast.

Originally, Wasteland 2 was set for an October 2013 launch, but thanks to the project earning $2 million more than its original Kickstarter goal, in July Fargo et al pushed the launch back because of the expanded scope of the RPG. The plan at that point was to launch the beta in October, so there has been some rustling and bustling on the Wasteland 2 forums for the past few weeks.
So, hopefully, we’ll finally get our hands on this thing before Christmas. Really looking forward to this one. I love old school RPGs, and Fargo’s Bard’s Tale franchise is among my all-time favorites.
As for the official release, inXile is holding back on an announcement until the beta is complete. We’ll keep you posted.
