Fascist Undead: Nazi Zombie Army 2 Announced
Sniper Elite V2 jumped on the undead bandwagon and elevated the series to new heights with standalone co-op spin-off, Nazi Zombie Army (NZA). Not wanting its unexpected PC hit to become stiff with rigor mortis, developer Rebellion announced today that Nazi Zombie Army 2 isn’t just in the works, it will take players into the dark heart of occult Berlin before the year is out.
With a post on the official Rebellion Blog, and an early heads-up to Eurogamer, Rebellion revealed NZA 2 and said it will take place immediately after the climax of the original NZA. Get ready to turn around and head back into the zombie-overrun hell of Berlin. Here’s what you can expect to see along the way:
“We really wanted to heighten the demonic, nightmarish tones of the first game,” Creative Director Time Jones stated. “The environments, the levels, the soundtrack all give a strong feeling of descent – each encounter, each level becoming progressively more hellish. Most importantly though, we’ve expanded the legions of Nazi undead with some really intimidating new enemies which we’ll reveal soon.”
No official release date was announced beyond TBA 2013, but it’s worth nothing the original NZA hit Steam in February of this year. So NZA 2 will drop less than a year later. Hopefully Rebellion isn’t biting off more than it can chew.
As for platforms, Rebellion said Nazi Zombie Army 2 will first launch on PC, but the studio is actively looking to bring it to next gen consoles. “As an independent, we’re obviously really excited about what we’re hearing from Sony and Microsoft when it comes to self publishing on PS4 and Xbox One,” Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley said. “We think the series could be a great fit for them.”
