Fatal Inertia Coming to Xbox Only

Originally, Koei’s futuristic racing game Fatal Intertia was slated for release on PlayStation 3 only, but now it looks to be headed for Xbox 360 only. In a press release by the company, the only announcement was a September 11 release for Xbox 360 with no date for the PS3. When Xbox360 Fanboy contacted Koei directly, they said that the PS3 version had been “delayed indefinitely” due to “the progress of the game engine for PS3,” that engine being Unreal Engine 3 by Epic Games.

First revealed at 2005′s Tokyo Game Show, Fatal Inertia was ready to be a definitive title for the PS3′s launch, but delays nixed that possibility. In November 2006, Koei announced the creation of an Xbox 360 version alongside the PS3 release. Both were delayed twice, in January and April of this year for a third quarter release.

It looks like it will finally be getting onto shelves, but not for the console expected. Until September, here are a few screenshots.

Ah, I get it. Someone seems to have screwed up the Unreal3 engine for the PS3…not a single game out based on that engine. Isn’t Square Enix supposed to use that, too?
