Fighting Games 101: The Basics of Battle

Class is in session for Fighting Games 101.

In response to a request from a fan e-mail, Mitch took James under his tutelage to teach him a bit about some basic fighting game terms and their application in the recently released, Injustice: Gods Among Us. Set in the DC Universe of superheroes, Injustice: Gods Among Us is developed by the makers of Mortal Kombat. It goes without saying that it’s one of the top Xbox 360 games of the year.

A fan said that they liked the Injustice and Mortal Kombat guides, but sometimes the terminology we use tends to go over their heads. To that end, Mitch decided to teach newbie James Heaney about the basics of fighting games so both James—and anyone out there who’s just as confounded as he is can learn the ropes.

The episode goes into depth about cancels, mix ups, and cross ups—terms that you’ll no doubt figure out by the end of the 15-minute video. Carry on!
