Knights of the Old Republic

Movie-Style Retextures for Kotor/ TSL | 763.14 KB

retextures, as regulars at KotOR Files will know the modder has continually sort to improve this particular modification. The lightsabers flicker in the style of the original movies and the author has again refined the colour of the sabers, they do look great as you will be able to see from the screenshots and they look even better in game. As an aesthetic modification it would be best to review the screenshots to ascertain if this is a modification you would want in your game. However it must be said that these saber blades are a vast improvement on both Biowares and Obsidians default game textures, as ever this modification is up to the modders usual high standard. Movie-Style Lightsaber Retextures | 70.24 KB

textures for the first Knights of the Old Republic game. Well, here is the thing. The author wanted to stay within the movie colors which are the blue, green, red, and purple; so there is no yellow, orange (Heart of the Guardian), and cyan (Mantle of the Force) colors. That right there will turn people away from downloading this mod. I never really used those alternate colors that were never used in George Lucas’ vision that often, but when making a mod like this, you never make the mistake of not including them as other people feel differently about those colors. The shades are different then what I had on my vision. See in my version I actually made the blades from scratch. I was so particular in matching the movies that it took me months of testing shades I made from scratch. The thing was the shading wasn’t always the same in each movie/shot. So I did make some alternate ones based off of the popular shades the movies like to use the most. I was also particular in how the blades would glow as some needed a bigger glow texture than others because of the lighting used in the coloring so they would be equal when you saw them in the game. I did have to tell the author to bring in more screenshots as he was originally going to just show off his blue and green textures. You always show off all of your work when releasing a mod as it helps sell your mod. The thing was I did close-ups on mine because I wanted to you see how smooth they were up close. The angle on some of the shots just weren’t the best selling point. The reason I bring this up as I don’t think for the most part these lightsabers are going to sell as much as they could have if the author had used better angles on his screenshots. Well, if you like what you see anyway and don’t mind not having all of the alternate colors that weren’t shown in the movies, then you may like these. Enjoy! :D Note: Please leave the author feedback, especially if you download this mod and use it. It really helps encourage the author to make more mods in the future. -Shem

Prequel Sabers | 1.65 MB

various colour lightsabers to the game. They come in blue, red, green, and purple, white and also just for the people here who download here at some bonus colours! Now I wont disclose what the new colours are, hehe you'll just have to see for yourself ;) I find the colours to be very much like the ones in the movies, more-so episodes One, Two and Three. The only colour I don't like is the yellow colour. I feel it should be a bit brighter to further extentuate it's power. But none the less these are very well made and add more variation to the defaults. You have a nice eye for detail. Keep up the great work.
- JediKilla

isn't too much to say other than the mod is up to the modders usual high standards, as it is an aesthetic mod I would recommend a review of the screenshots to see if the colour of the new lightsaber blades is to your taste, and if it is to download it! Unique Lightsaber Blades | 546.07 KB

for the author, so that they will return with new mods in the future. And so Xacius returns with an update to the Unique Lightsaber Blades mod released just a few days ago. Well, the first version was for Knights of the Old Republic II, while this is for Kotor I, but it actually will work for KotOR II as well, though it doesn\'t include the two colors unique to KotOR II--silver and viridian. Many (myself included) were not satisfied with the look of the lightsaber blades in the Knights of the Old Republic games, so it\'s no surprise that numerous mods have been released to \"fix\" the lightsaber blades in KotOR. In fact, the same applies for the Jedi Knight games; there are countless lightsaber blade mods over on JKFiles as well. I think the source of the problem is that the lightsaber appears in just about every Star Wars comic, video game, and movie/TV series, and the look of the blade is different in each one, whether it be a clean shaft of colored light, or a fiery, amorphous blade. Xacius has gone to the latter extreme, making it so that the blades almost appear to be made out of colored fire. It\'s vaguely reminiscent of the lightsaber\'s appearance in some of the old Tales of the Jedi comics that take place in the era just before Knights of the Old Republic. In fact, as many of you probably know, the title \"Knights of the Old Republic\" was taken from one of the earlier TotJ story archs. The first version of Xacius\' mod lacked blades for the orange and yellow lightsabers, so at Shem\'s advice Xavius returns with an update to correct that error. Also included are a variety of unique blades in the style of the Heart of the Guardian and Mantle of the Force colors--i.e. they don\'t have the traditional white core that most lightsabers do. The author has gone so far as to name the blades with rather interesting titles. The author has not added the new lightsabers and crystals to any placeable in the game, so you\'ll have to use the cheat console or savegame editor in order to get them. The author has provided the proper cheat codes; however, you should not include the .uti ending in the cheat console. So, for example, to get g_w_shortsbr20.uti, you would type \"giveitem g_w_shortsbr20\" and that\'s it. And while the mod uses upcrystals.2da, the author has not made use of the TSL Patcher, so any other mods that use that file will not be compatible unless you do some .2da editing yourself. Not much else to say other than that if you like the new saber look, give the mod a download. Enjoy! :) NOTE: Please leave comments/feedback for the author, especially if you download and use this mod; usually it\'s the only reward modders receive for their efforts. ~JC

Verpine Headband Reskin | 18.01 KB

Knights of the Old Republic, you wouldn’t see it when equipping the headgear items since I made them invisible because I think they just make your party members look silly. Anyway, back to the Verpine Headband. By default the headband had a red shade across the player character or party member’s eyes, like they were some sort of sunglasses or 3-D glasses as I mentioned earlier. Darth Xander got bored and changed the color of the shade from red to purple. It’s a simple change and I don’t think it’s something that will be a big popular mod around here, but that shouldn’t be a reason not to share your work. You share because others may like it. Keep in mind that other headgear items will use the same headgear model as the Verpine Headband in the game so the model can show up more than once. This is just a slight artwork change so don’t expect a new item from it. Enjoy the purple! :D Note: Please leave the author feedback, especially if you download this mod and use it. those who prefer to stick to a lightsaber, it makes your non-Jedi party members more useful. But be forewarned, it also makes ranged fighters into more dangerous opponents.

Saber Blade Reskin Pack

k1saberskins.rar | 36.78 KB

again with a mod that changes the look of the lightsaber blades in the first Knights of the Old Republic game. The new skins make the blades look more "zappy", the premise being that four thousand years before the movies, technology wouldn't be as advanced. Makes sense to me; in fact, this reminds me of how lightsabers looked in the Tales of the Jedi comics, which take place about forty years before the games. The mod replaces all seven saber colors from K1 (blue, red, green, yellow, violet, Heart of the Guardian, and Mantle of the Force). In addition, the yellow looks more...well, yellow than the orangish color BioWare used. So, if you like the look, give it a download. Just one word of caution: you'll need WinRAR in order to extract the files. It's a free download, I believe, so don't worry about the expense. ;) NOTE: Please leave comments or feedback for the author, especially if you download and use this mod; usually it's the only reward modders receive for their efforts. ~JC

Candy Cane Sabers | 80.93 KB

hilts are white with red stripes, and the blade itself is white with a touch of red thrown in. Multicolored lightsaber blades generally don\'t look very good, but I think this pulls it off decently enough. To get your character\'s lightsaber this way, you\'ll have to cheat in a candy cane crystal (the code being g_w_sbrcrstl46). Apart from the cosmetic changes, the crystal will grant a +4 bonus to your strength, wisdom and charisma scores. On its own it isn\'t *too* overpowered, though I\'d steer clear of using two lightsabers with that crystal in them. Last thing - be aware that this mod does not use the TSLPatcher. This unfortunately makes it incompatible with any other mods that modify the upcrystals.2da file, WotOR (Weapons of the Old Republic) and most other mods that introduce new crystals to the game included. Perhaps we\'ll see a 1.1 version that uses the TSLPatcher? ;) Still, a suitably festive mod! Note: Please leave the author feedback, especially if you download this mod and use it. It really helps encourage the author to make more mods in the future. -Emperor Devon

Saber Blade Reskins | 73.08 KB

blade color can come in different colors. DarthDingDong makes a return to the modding scene with a new skins for the lightsaber blades in the original Knights of the Old Republic game. The author really did some interesting tweaking with the blades around the cores during mod changes. The cores and the energy that goes around the core seem to be very consistent in size except for the orange (Heart of the Guardian) color. The author does have a compare picture which shows you the original blades that Bio-Ware made. Since both textures were used in both Knights of the Old Republic games, it’s not a porting issue if you want to dump these into Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. Keep in mind it will be missing the silver and viridian colors. Enjoy the new blade skins! :D Note: Please leave the author feedback, especially if you download this mod and use it. It really helps encourage the author to make more mods in the future. -Shem
