skins here that are a bit strange - the Darth Nihilus one seems to be a photosourced image pasted onto sidious\'s face without proper resizing, and looks very bizarre. The wookie and twilek skins also while being claimed to be \'improved\' don\'t seem to be - the wookie has a single fur/skin/eye tone and the twilek has details (tentacle bands, details on pants) removed. Anyway reviewing skins is a bit subjective, download if the screens below appeal. Remember, this is useful only to modders who can create a side mod. - Sky

the 324th legion (nonexistent in canon), which have red armor stripes. The skins are very painty, and don't really look realistic. I guess realism is irrelevant, considering clones don't actually exist, but at any rate, these skins are very painty. You can clearly see where the paintbucket has been used and the paintbrush tool used to fill in spaces with a bright red color. A suggestion to the author- hue/saturation is your friend when dealing with colors. Get something better if you're using Paint to make these. of these textures seem like they\'re pretty much - if not the same - made using the same techniques. One or two are fairly passable (the rock texture at least looks different), but none of them are incredibly good or, more importantly, any better than the choices that will already be available in the modtools. Another point to note is that they\'re sized oddly - at 400*400, they\'re too small to effectively stretch to 512*512, and so to use them in pretty much anything you\'ll need to compress them to 256*256, which means that the extra size is unnecessary. Since they\'re digitally created textures anyway, it would have been a lot better to simply choose a more workable size when making them. To the author(s), I would suggest experimenting a little more with the tools you have available to you. Read up on some in-depth tutorial for whatever image editing application you\'re using (GIMP in this case) and learn to make a variety of textures. Right now the \"jagged-brush-scribble-then-blur\" technique is producing some textures that don\'t have a lot of differentiation for you. Work with a specific goal in mind rather than (and this is only a guess) making something and then deciding what it looks like after the fact. You can see a couple of the textures in the pictures below; give them a try if you like. Keep in mind that you will probably have to have some kind of experience with modeling to use these, as there are very few stock models you can simply use single-pattern textures with. -Mav

The skins themselves don't look very appealing due to the "paintbucket" method of coloring. I'd suggest that the author seek an alternate method of coloring that preserves the details of the underlying skin better. Oh, and I'm not sure how they resemble the 607th other than the fact that both are green. Regardless, if this set of skins is something you may want for your mod or map, give it a download. -Xavious

know that I'll rail day in and day out about how we don't really need every new set of clone trooper retextures (which a vast majority of these retextures are). However - if you're going to submit new textures for the clone troopers, do it like this author has! This pack is a large (over 50!) set of different and unique textures for clones. Yes, there are the old standbys (Xth legion, etc.), but there are also some creative uses of the skin with original texture work - which is a welcome change from the usual "recolor-refilter" method of retexturing. So yes, it is large for a skinpack, and yes, it is basically just clone troopers. It's not necessarily something I'd care for myself, but I know a lot of people like to have a large selection of pre-made retextures on hand. To those people I say "download!" There's such a large selection here, I'm sure you'll be able to find something you like. -Mav

While I have seen some nice retextures to fit that "Clone Wars" theme, these are basically just tinted versions of the stock skins. Very little attention to detail is given here; it looks pretty much like the author just gave everything a blue hue. In any case, if you see these, like them, and want to use them, remember that you will need to know how to create a new side as a prerequisite. -Mav

contrast on the skins has been removed and now they look very sloppy (especially the portions where it is clear it couldn't be paint, like on a human face). There are also some skins on which it is clear that there's just been random scribblings. I suppose there are those that may like these, but I for one can't count myself among them - they look goofy, and it is problematic that the detail has been removed as it has. If you want to recolor, please don't use "select by color" or "magic wand" or whatever tool was used here - it only yields sloppier results. -Mav

and heavy trooper (REP). All the textures look like they had color-selected areas and then bucket-fills done on them, to create the delightful effect of solid colors all over the place with several awkward lines interspersed among them. I am not sure if this was the author's intent (or if they meant to do something else but became satisfied with these), but really, these need to be done a little differently to look good. At least when only Hue/Sat changes are done, the texture's detail is preserved. In this case, detail is lost and unnecessary sloppiness is added. For the future, I would suggest manually drawing your selection areas and then doing tinting instead of trying to select by color or shade. -Mav

a prime example. Most of the skins in here are just that - skins that have had nothing done to them except changing the saturation and hue of the entire skin at once. It's a pretty sloppy effect, and when one is adjusting the color of the skin, they should at least take the time to make sure things like dirt stains turning purple don't happen. There are a couple skins in here that look decent, but they're virtually indistinguishable (except maybe that they're lower detail) from a couple skins already in the assets: the stock rep_inf_htrooper.tga and the stock rep_inf_sharpshooter.tga. The author did a nice job trying to vary the different colors of the skins for different uses, but the quality here is low and I would probably recommend making some touched-up versions of these skins before they ever get used in a map. -Mav

The skins are believable too, and would not look out of place in a map. However, the third Episode 3 Trooper skin was...strange. It looked like it would fit in one of Dann Boeing's maps, though. Of the six clones there are two dark clone variants(red and blue) which have greay armour, there is the naboo troper from an older release which is a yellow clone, the para trooper (light green), a purple trooper and a reskin for the jetpack making it plain white. All are episode 3 clone. Aso included is a texturing tutorial that I find questionable but it should work nonetheless.
