Gamers participate in single player or co-op modes as Point Man or as Paxton Fettel, his conniving brother whose incredible telekinetic power has given him life beyond the grave.

F.E.A.R. 3 - Soul Survivor Multiplayer Trailer
Players of this mode will need to either survive as a hero or succeed as a villain. Each mode will begin with Alma—the powerful tortured psychic—choosing one player to be corrupted. Once that player has been chosen, they will be turned into a spectre, with the ability to possess enemies. It will be their goal to corrupt the remaining squad members before time runs out. If a player is corrupted, they “switch teams” and their objectives to win the game will change. Players will need to work together to either escape the corrupted or band together to corrupt the remaining members.

In this mode, players must band together to forage supplies and fend off the waves of enemies who are unleashed and eager to take down the squad. Once all squad members are incapacitated, the game is over, so players must work as a team.

F.E.A.R. 3 - Soul King Multiplayer Trailer
In this cutthroat mode, players are thrust into the most competitive multiplayer experience in the game, with the goal of harvesting the most number of souls before time runs out. Players will start out as a spectre, capable of possessing enemies to gain the skills and weapons of the body they inhabit. While possessing a body, players will be able to collect souls through killing enemies, however, will need to constantly battle other AI enemies and the three other players eager to take them down and steal their harvested souls.

F.E.A.R. 3 - Scoring Trailer
Players can choose to work together while playing co-op to achieve the best group score, or work separately, secretly stealing from and backstabbing each other for kills and points. One way that gamers will be able to rack up the points is through the game’s “challenge system” which rewards players for approaching the game with different gameplay styles.
