Stronghold Crusader 2
Our latest Stronghold features new units, siege equipment, dynamic events, co-op play, realistic unit abilities, 8 player multiplayer and of course skirmish mode! For the past two years Stronghold Crusader 2 has been a labor of love for our developers to work on, with the goal of creating the ultimate 3D Stronghold game. We hope you have as much fun playing the game as we did making it.
With the game currently in beta and on show to press, this new trailer spotlights the core features that set Crusader 2 apart from the original.
After blasting through the Crusader campaign you will be invited to play as Saladin in his fight to take back the holy lands from Richard the Lionheart and the invading Crusader hordes. Without spoiling anything you can expect to encounter a few familiar faces on your road to confront Richard. Some will be friendly with others out to get you, so keep your guard up and exact revenge when necessary!
As an AI Lord he is not the best ally in multiplayer or offline skirmish mode, his aggressive attitude toward other players making any military or economic assistance unlikely. As an AI opponent however The Wolf provides skilled Stronghold players with a worthy challenge. The series has always been known for its ability to test the mental dexterity of players and The Wolf’s addition to the Crusader 2 roster shows that this new game keeps that tradition alive.
Part of the game's thematic fight for freedom against the invading Crusader hordes, the Sultana prefers deception and intelligent use of the land over brute force. Firefly’s latest developer diary walks players through the basics of the Sultana's attack, army composition and castle economy, highlighting a few effective counter strategies.
With his ability to not only fire while moving but also fire backwards, sideways or any other angle, it's easy to understand why the Horse Archer was a fan favorite. Combined with his fast speed, this gives the Horse Archer a unique edge in battle, countered only by the mighty Sassanid Knight.
Crusader 2 is currently being developed independently by Firefly Studios, who plan to self-publish the title in 2014.
