Trophy / Achievement Unlocked

Serendipitous (Bronze / 14 points): Amassed a fortune in casino coins.

Easy Casino Coins

  1. To earn the trophy / achievement above, you’ll need to earn 10,000 casino coins at Serendipity.
  2. The easiest way to earn Casino Coins is by using the Slot Machines. To play, find a machine and press [R1/RB] to insert a Casino Coin. Then press down to pull the lever. You can stop each of the reels individually with the face buttons on your controller.
  3. You can also use the auto-play feature with [L1/LB].
  4. If you want real money, you’re going to want to bump up the machine”s mode to Victory or Super Victory Mode. In Super Victory Mode, you’ll spend 100 coins with each pull, but the payout vastly increases.
  5. Before even starting, talk to a Casino Rep to understand more about machine “Moods.” Each time you visit Serendipity, the machines will randomly change “Mood” which has a signigicant effect on the machine’s payout.
  6. With “Moods” in mind, give machines a few test runs. The two best possible moods are “That machine’s on fire!’ and “It’s like a hot summer’s day!” You definately want to wait, leave, or come back later to catch the machines in a “It’s like a hot summer’s day!” mood before attempting to made big money.
  7. You might have to make a few worthless attempts with the machines before you get a hot “Mood” but when you do, stick around and prepare to spend some Casino Coins.
  8. With the best possible mood set, get some tape or a rubber band, and hold down the [L1/LB] buttons on your controller. Try to start with something like 15,000 Casino Coins to give yourself plenty of leeway. Leave it all night, or just a few hours. If you’re lucky, you’ll gain a massive amount of Casino Coins. If you’re unlucky, just give the rubber-band method another try. You’re bound to come out on top.
  9. Even if you don’t make lots of easy coin, you will come closer to unlocking a very difficult to find fragment called the “Lucky Coin.” This fragment can only be obtained once you’ve won over 7,777 Casino Coins in total on a Slot Machine in The Hall of Gaming.

If this is a tip to winning 10,000 coins for the Trophy, how do you start with 15,000 coins?

You buy the 15000 coins by using your gil,it will not unlock the trophy however,in order to unlock, you need to win 10000 coins from the casino, hope this helps.Ty Gamefront,,was very imformative.

How does one increase their bets on the slot machines? I cannot see any options to do so.

this cheat doesn’t work at all!!! tried several times and all it does is loose you money. unless you get super lucky and get it to spin perfect your just going to loose all your coins.

@ nub soup the only way to increase to victory mode is by hitting three v’s in a row. which is almost impossible. and even when you do and get your R1 button taped down on that spin it still comes up random on the second two reels so it’s almost impossible for this cheat to work.

10k coins isn’t the achievement, i’ve earned 15k+ from the slots and 10k+ from chocobo racing, still no achievement

Just tried this way and had no luck what so ever with the machine being “on fire”. I had more luck when they said the machine was “not bad, but not great either”. I won over 5k coins then. Trying your way I’ve yet to win over 1k.

Yeah, this achievement definitely is not earned by earning 10k casino coins. Last night I entered victory mode and then super victory mode, I won well over 10k in casino coins as a result, and got the 7,777 casino coins fragment. However, no achievement.

I do not know what the real requirements are, but they are certainly not 10k… I earned more than 10k in just that one super victory mode. Maybe the real required total is 100k?

Your winnings are subtracted from your loss. So you have to win 10,000 coins more than you lost.

when the mood of the machine is on “its a hot summers day” DO NOT use L1 button. Your payout percentage goes from 130% to 98%. Take the time to hit R1 and pull back on the lever and stop the reels urself. might take a few hours but it works. I spent 6 hours playing the slots like this. Up to 550k casion coins. This makes useful as elixars are around 30k a piece.

I can’t disagree with this guide strongly enough. You should NEVER use the Slots for anything but the Lucky Coin fragment. The chances of winning are just too slim. Stupidly slim.

I hate to break it to you but unless you’re willing to exchange a ridiculous amount of gil, there’s no “easy” way to earn Coins. And that’s not even the best way. The only good way of earning Coins is a slow one; get yourself a good Chocobo and race it over and over and over. The payouts aren’t as big as the Slots but the Coins are practically guaranteed. If you win the best races, you get 480 Coins as a prize, not to mention how much you bet on your own Chocobo (while this is usually as low as 110 or 150 Coins from a 100 Coin bet, it’s still better than nothing. And a Silver Chocobo, preferably boosted with a few abilities infused from other Chocobos, will double the payout).

So yeah, don’t bother with the Slots except for the fragment. It’s a waste and, dare I say it, the worst mini-game in an FF game.

This guide definitely DOES work. I just got done using it, got the fragment and trophy in under an hour! I think I was lucky though as I got into super victory mode and got a few jackpots, putting me over 30K in coins.

Adding some extra tips for the slots.
1. You can exit the machine while it is in victory mode/super victory mode and it should still be in that mode.
2. Save when your ahead(doesn’t remove count for fragment)
3. There seems to be a bug from switching from automatic to manual(not sure about other way) but if your in victory mode during automatic and then manual input(when you manually “insert” coins, rest doesn’t matter) it switches to normal mode(automatic mode will still contain current mode).

Easiest way to get coins is to get the Sazh dlc for the game… Play poker as him to rack up lots of coins… then if i remember correctly if you finish or save and go back to Serah and noel your coins will be transferred… if this is wrong then i also am sure that you can play the slots as Sazh and do it that way… Hope i helped somewhat

The achievement you all are wandering about is winning said amount of coins from Serendipity. you have to get them while playing as Sazh from the Sazh dlc

Guys you wont make a profit from this, its good for the lucky coin achievement but thats it.

Having played ff13-2 about 6-7 times now and as such used the slot machines each time, even when its in its best mood you normally make a loss, at least on the auto play you do.

The best way to make casino coins is the sazh DLC if you have it, if you dont have it its either chocobo races or farming for gil and buying the coins.

On my last playthru I managed to get 2 jackpots in super victory mode but at that point I was about 4k down in losses, so it wasnt profit, in all 6-7 playthrus I have never got the super jackpot (chichus).

The good news is the super coin doesnt require profit, it just requires wins, so if eg. you spend 10k and win 7,777k you will get the coin even tho you lost 2.3k.
