Final Fantasy VII City Appears in Second Life

ffvii-second-life1-1.jpg

In Second Life, the popular online community site, a city has grown into a replica of Midgar from FFVII. Complete with Shin-Ra headquarters, a SOLDIER program, and even AVALANCHE members trying to take them down, the city functions almost as an MMO version of the popular game. In the city, you can create a character, purchase weapons, increase your stats, and even fight other players. Several Game Masters are also on hand to move a story along and introduce plot elements and threats. What’s most amazing though is that this city has been created without Square’s involvement at all. Thus far, Square hasn’t interfered with the city’s development, and some early members of the community claim the company gave the creators their blessing. I certainly hope the city continues to grow and function as the people involved seem to have gone to some amazing lengths to get the detail contained in Midgar.

I would love Second life to get a CnD so that way we can stop hearing about it.
