Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Benchmark Tool Now Available

Square Enix has released a benchmark tool ahead of the rebirth of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (read our impressions of the game here). It’s there to show you how well the game can run on your computer—or whether it’ll run at all.

The benchmark software also comes with a character creation tool, and it’s there for those of us who spend hours tweaking the smallest of details on our characters. If you spent any amount of time in the beta for Final Fantasy XIV, you can import your character to see them in the cutscene that the benchmark runs.

If you’d like to give the benchmark a go, you can download the software directly from the game’s official website here.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has been scheduled for release on August 27, 2013.

FFXIV is the last nail in SE’s self-built coffin. It takes everything we hate about WoW clones and cranks it to 11. No one parties outside of dungeons because there’s zero challenge in the shared world. Combat is brainless button mashing. No need for travel, you can teleport everywhere. Pathetic.

Well everyone’s entitled to their opinion. I wholeheartedly disagree with yours. “It takes everything we hate about WoW clones…” – You mean, everything “you” hate… because you certainly aren’t speaking for me…

“No parties outside of dunegons because there’s zero challenge in the shared world…” – Where are you getting this from? The “Beta” had parties formed inside and outside the “shared” world… I know I did plenty of it. As someone that played version 1.0 and now this version, there is a significant difference between the two games, and this one is much more user friendly.

“Combat is brainless button mashing”…again, it depends on your perspective and also what you are expecting… if you brainlessly button mash, then so be it… however, there is strategy assuming you take time to fully realize what each ability does and how effective it can be if used in the correct sequence. So, if the limit of your experience was “brainlessly button mashing” then I’m not surprised by your comment at all.

“No need for travel…you can teleport everywhere…” – again, not true. You can’t teleport everywhere… as a matter of fact, there are, and I estimate going to be around 80+ areas/zones and you won’t be able to teleport to them all… so that negates “everywhere”. Fortunately, the game saves players time by allowing teleportation, instead of running from point a to point b… and back… which amounts to a lot of wasted time. I give credit to the developers for anticipating this waste of time in an MMO and actually doing something about it… now-a-days people work, go to school, have other extracurricular activities outside of the house which do not allow them x number of hours to spend in an MMO running between zones.

@psycros & @xiozen

Dude Xiozen, chill out.
Psycros is obviously trolling. Why would he come to this page just to leave a comment like that; lol, I bet he is super excited to play this game and faps all day and night about how much he loves FFXIVARR.
Oh Psycros…. Final Fantasy loves you, too!

This game has been extremely well made. I love almost every aspect of it! Even the simplicity of walking into a ‘bar’, without zoning to a new map, and the music transition to an upbeat pub tune.
This is far from a wow clone, only thing that is reminiscent of wow is the hotkeys, everything else can be attributed to final fantasy 11, or atleast considered a modified version of, Which was there before wow. The graphics are beautiful, to say the least, even on a low grade system, it still looks good.
There is also an immensely ridiculous amount of active content for a new mmorpg which appeals to players in it for the long haul. There also seems to be a large amount of content I did not have the opportunity to touch upon in my time on the beta, hopefully I will get the chance in the open beta on the 8th of Aug.
I think fans of mmos will very much enjoy the ‘open ended’ levelling of classes on characters, as well as the crafting system simply by changing the weapon/tool in your hand.
I’m also a fan of subscription systems, I don’t like micro transactions, I like to pay for my game and get the full content, no if or buts.
I can’t wait to explore the entire world, I think the development team have done an incredible job and I hope the calamity of the original does not dissuade people from trying this. Because of the base quality of this game, i’m very optimistic about future additions. Heres to 10- years of A Realm Reborn, and congratulation on your 11th birthday final fantasy 11, where does the time go.

Final note, i’m impressed with how the classes work, for example, the unlockable jobs, paladin and warrior, both are tanks by virtue, however, paladin seems to be suited towards one on one tanking, warrior is aimed at tanking multiple mobs, similar adaptions also appear to exist for other party roles, I,e healers, damage dealers, support.
Can’t wait.

Trolling, huh? When this is free-to-play in six months remember how clever you thought you sounded. Stupid f**king children.

you must be the dumbest kid on forums posting that kind of sh*t, first off this game will NEVER go free to play why? because square enix already said that they wont allow it, they would shut it down before that happened and 2nd FF 11 has been going for YEARS! even before WOW…. so stfu about wow iv been playing WOW for 6+ years and i wouldnt say that crap.. i dont think FF14 ARR will reach 10mil players but i dont think any game will now a days, and plus i dont think they need that many to make it or break it, they said they only need 400k + witch we are at over 1 million so far. so…. for this scrub @psycros do your research first.
