Finally, Here’s What the PS4 Looks Like (PICS)

Sony teased the Playstation 4 back in February, showing images of the controller and the camera. For the big announcement, everyone had to wait for the E3 press conference, which is now underway.

After some initial hemming and hawing about Vita and PS3, the lights went down. When they came back up, Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Andrew House was holding the PS4.

It’s clearly smaller than the Xbox One, although the two consoles embrace some of the same design features: a mix of glossy and matte finishes, and proportions that recall the aspect ratio of a modern TV.

There are some significant differences: the PS4 has a hint of blue in its design, and it can stand on one end. In contrast to the Xbox One’s conservative boxiness, Sony’s console has a dramatic tilt to it, and it looks like a parallelogram in silhouette.

That said, the similarities are still striking. Maybe Microsoft was wise to release pictures first; Internet wags are already calling Sony’s console the “Xbox One Italic,” or “Xbox One with the skew filter applied.”

Check out the pictures below and decide for yourself. Which console looks better? Which one would you be more likely to buy?

They both look pretty awful.
One of them plays pretty awful.
I’ll let you guess which one.

Question.
What is that thing under the controller that looks like a Kinect?

Who buys a console for looks? It is still leaps and bounds better looking than the Atari 2600, we have had some truly hideous looking consoles in the past.

I will stick with my PC though, so much more useful.

Neither of them are attractive, but if you’re buying a console based on how its looks then you’re not a real gamer anyway. The PS4 is the superior choice in every regard, the Xbox One is in fact almost completely unbuyable. PS4 could have been the size of a PC and covered in grey gargoyle heads and it would still be the better unit.

@Michael: That’s the PlayStation 4 camera. It’s an optional accessory, apparently.

xbone for three reasons, Itemised as follows;

1 I don’t trust a company that can lose your details and do jack about it except offer a free game as compensation

2 Piss weak exclusive titles

3 when was the last time you heard anyone say “hey wanna come over and play PS3/PS4?” Nobody I know is buying/pre-ordering a PS4 through a sort of general consensus that it’d be a hilarious waste of our money

I think the camera for the PS4 looks like an old video cassette. And is probably just a simple copy of the xbox 360 Kinect.

But the biggest put off I have of going with PS4 is not the console as I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. But its the company that owns it. As someone mentioned Sony have been hacked and had property stolen so many times its a joke. I’d rather have to pay £500 for a console replacement than have my entire bank account emptied by some hacker I don’t know off.

But hey if people want to take the risk for a few hours of gaming only to find they can’t pay their electric bill more power to them.
