First Details, Screens of Legend of Grimrock 2
Legend of Grimrock 2 isn’t just happening, its monsters, mazes, and men will be ready for download this year.
Developer Almost Human sends word that the sequel will take players out of the dungeons of Mount Grimrock and into the open air of the Isle of Nex. Dark woods, misty swamps, and ancient ruins make up the secluded island. Naturally, it’s filled with all sorts of new “more intelligent” monsters, and players will explore it all while toying with new spellcasting, crafting, and skill systems. There’s also a new playable race that gets my whiskers twitching: the Ratling.
“With the success of Grimrock, we have had the privilege and luxury to listen to the audience, go through all the feedback and reviews and finetune all aspects of the game,” Almost Human’s Petri Häkkinen said in a statement. “At the same time we have carefully avoided changing the core game too much to stay true to its origins.”
Great news. The original Grimrock was a terrific old-school dungeon crawler, and a real success story for such a small indie developer.
In related Grimrock news, Legend of Grimrock: The Series has hit its $100,000 goal on Kickstarter. The funding allows Wayside Creations, creators of the popular Fallout: Nuka Break series of live shorts, to create an officially licensed live-action series based on Legend of Grimrock.
So we’ll be seeing much more of Legend of Grimrock this year, and Almost Human is whetting our appetites for old-school adventure with the first screenshots of the sequel below. No release date just yet beyond TBA 2014.
