First Fallout 3 Details Revealed
Storywise, Fallout 3 starts with your birth and your mother’s death in a hospital. As you create your character, you father (Liam Neeson) hands you over to the DNA analyzer.
The sequel is running on a modified version of the Oblivion engine, which sports a reworked third-person view due to negative feedback from players.
Second, there’s a very interesting combat system called the Vault-tec Assisted Targeting System (V.A.T.S.). As in any first-person shooter, you can tackle enemies in real-time, but you can also use the new system to pause time and select a target at your own pace. Of course, doing so, using up action points. If you run out of action points, you won’t be able to pause time until they recharge. If you’re more of a sneaky player, Bethesda says you can play the game through by being stealthy or talking your way out of trouble.
In an interesting twist, enemies will use the same system to target you, and when they attack, you’ll be injured in specific parts of your body. You’ll also have to check your consumables for radiation before you utilize them.
The Karma system returns as well, and early reports indicate that there are 9-12 possible endings.
All in all, it sounds like something to look forward to with barely contained anticipation. I just hope that it doesn’t disappoint me as much as Oblivion did.
