First to Greatness? Sony Wants PS4 Gamers to Prove It

Which next gen console is for you? Game Front can help! Check out our Xbox One vs. PlayStation 4 Ultimate Buyer’s Guide.

That’s no longer just a vacuous forum or comment section post. At least not on the PlayStation 4.

Sony has launched its First to Greatness feature, which celebrates gamers who are the first to complete various challenges across a variety of PS4 launch titles.

Here’s how it works: log in to the First to Greatness site, select a challenge (there are currently 64 challenges up for grabs), complete it, share the recording with Facebook, and then upload it to PSN. If you’re the first, Sony will celebrate your achievement by putting your video, complete with your gamer tag, up on the official challenge board for all the world to see.

Nice new twist on Trophies/achievements that gets PS4 owners actively recording and sharing (a huge feature of this generation of consoles). And that’s a tasty carrot Sony is dangling: bragging rights.

As Phil just pointed out, though, those of you who have already completed a number of these challenges before the contest went live are, for these games/challenges at least, SOL.

Umm, yeah I don’t know what kind of PC you’ve been using all these years, but they have their own host of issues, so its best to take a laissez-faire approach and just let people play what they want to play.

I agree with Mike. PCs have been known to have their issues more so than home consoles. If you recall, red-ring-of-death is much less common than blue-screen-of-death. Also yes they do hold the industry back, but by how much? Is playing a game on PS4 or Xbox One at 1080p @ 30fps really decades behind a PC which does only slightly higher resolution at 60fps? (Unless you have a gaming rig to play 4k which 99.9% of the population does not)

The console wars hasn’t been at all relevant since about 1996.
