Frictional Unveils SOMA, Sci-Fi Horror Coming in 2015

Frictional Games, the creators of creepy classics Amnesia and Penumbra, have pulled the sheet off of their latest bloody creation.

SOMA, the mystery project Frictional has been teasing with some awesomely odd live-action clips, is a sci-fi, first-person horror game that blurs the line between reality and artificial reality. It’s coming to PC and PlayStation 4 sometime in 2015, but the devs are already showing off a bit of gameplay. There’s also a bit of set up before you push play on the trailer:

The radio has gone silent on PATHOS-2. As isolation bears down on the staff of the remote research facility, strange things are happening. Machines are taking on human traits and alien constructions have started to interfere with routine. The world around them is turning into a nightmare. The only way out is to do something unimaginable.
Off you go. (Good luck!)

Things never seem to go well at remote research facilities, do they?

Looks like a fun new twist on an old formula. We’ll keep an eye on SOMA and let you know when we learn more.

Am I the only one who sees this title and immediately thinks of Brave New World?

Yes, you’re the only one that has made that reference.
