Friday Flame Wars: Mass Effect Same-Sex Boning
Friday Flame Wars is a recurring feature on GameFront. We present a hot-button issue, and then encourage a
no-holds-barred commenting battle royale healthy debate within our community.
The big news this week for me (because any Mass Effect news is big news for me) is that your Commander Shepard will be able to stick it to a character who has the same kind of genatalia as him/her in Mass Effect 3. This has caused quite a stir, which is most of the reason why I like it. I dig anything that gets people yelling.
But is it a good thing? One one hand, I like it because, you know, why shouldn’t that be a possibility in this kind of massive choose-your-own-adventure story? One the other hand, I don’t like it because of continuity issues: if Commander Shepard wasn’t already gay how can he be gay now? (jkjk that’s really stupid)
On the the third hand I don’t care at all, because the romances turn every character involved into a lame-o, and I’d rather BioWare spend more time on making the game awesome.
Do you like this move? Do you not like it? Are you a former congressman who will use the game to live out your airport bathroom fantasies? Fan those flames! And be sure to be as much of a di*k about it as you possibly can.
