Funcom Launches Browser-Based Social Game “The Secret War”

In preparation for the June 19th release of The Secret World, Norwegian publishers Funcom have launched The Secret War, a browser-based social game that seems designed to garner Facebook buzz for the conspiracy-based MMO (see our PAX preview).

After taking a “personality test,” which will recommend one of the game’s three factions, players will recruit agents using their Facebook friends list and presumably use them to battle unspeakable evil. If successful, Secret Warriors can look forward to in-game rewards when the MMO launches, as well as access to beta weekends, paid trips to Montreal to meet the developers, and even a permanent place in the game. That’s not so secret now, is it?

UPDATE: Be warne — as I suspected while writing this post, The Secret War will totally frack up your Facebook Wall.
