Funcom’s The Secret World to be Co-published by EA Partners

Looking for a spin on the traditional MMO formula? FunCom, the Norwegian developer behind Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures is working on a game titled The Secret World. EA Partners and FunCom recently announced that they would be, pardon the repetition, partnering up to bring the game to market upon release.

The Secret World is a modern game that includes secret organizations and conspiracies and reportedly includes factions like the Knights Templar, the Illuminati and will feature London, New York and Seoul in its setting and had a distinctly Hunter the Reckoning / World of Darkness feel to it.

There is little information about the gameplay or larger metaplot available at this point but the Dark Days are Coming teaser site is interesting enough to keep me intrigued. Modern MMO’s don’t exactly have a great track record – The Matrix Online, APB, etc. Could this be the one to take off?

Unfortunately, aside from the partnership announcement, there is little more to this story – like a potential release date – expect to hear more this year from the developers, likely at E3.
