Game Front Podcast #18: Interpreting Mass Effect, Xbox Rumor

We’re back with the Game Front Podcast, and this week’s episode (or last week’s, technically) marks the final appearance of Features Editor Ross Lincoln — at least as a Game Front team member — as he’s moving over to sister site The Escapist to serve as its senior editor of its new Comics and Cosplay section. With that in mind, we’ve hit a lot of our favorite topics (which happen to also be topical).

First up is the Xbox One, which has Microsoft offering $100 toward when players trade in a Playstation 3, and which rumor has it that Microsoft is planning a new SKU this year that drops the disc drive, as well as $100 off the price tag. Microsoft has denied that rumor, but we recorded this on Friday, so you can still hear us talk it through.

Next, contributor Phil Owen runs down why he wanted to replay and reinterpret the Mass Effect series in a giant three-part series in January, and we talk through the utility of looking critically at games — even games you don’t like.

Finally, we go through a few interesting bits of news from January, like Robotoki’s new entertainment division, EVE Online’s latest crazy-huge battle, and The Wolf Among Us: Episode 2 coming out this week.
