Game Front Takes On SyFy’s DVICE in Tribes Grudge Match (VID)

A while back, Hi-Rez Studios invited members of the Game Front editorial and video teams to take part in a best-of-five grudge match in Tribes: Ascend. After much training and preparation, the match finally took place this week.

Game Front’s team, which consisted of Ron Whitaker, Mark Burnham, Ryan Marsh, Mitchell Saltzman, CJ Miozzi, Ben Richardson and myself, went up against a team from the Syfy Channel blog DVICE. The whole thing was shoutcast by AnarchyAO, and we’ve got the video embedded below. We also learned a thing or two about sucking less at Tribes, and compiled our tips into a feature.

The match was a long time in the making, and the Game Front team has been practicing for quite a while as we waited for the logistics to be sorted out. Unfortunately, DVICE was only able to field six players for much of the game, and the match had to continue shorthanded because of some serious time constraints (specifically, lots of us could only play for the set window). Even still, the match was all in good fun and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. We’re hoping DVICE might be up for a rematch in the future, hopefully at some point when their seventh man isn’t seemingly required to make it through customs or something before he can join the match.
