GameFront Network Mod Update — August 19
GameFront houses over 60 network sites dedicated to hosting game files and has amassed a talented modding community over the years. These network sites can be accessed through the pulldown in the top banner on the GameFront home page.
Apart from being a hub for top-quality mods for recent games, the network sites host old classics. Maybe you’re new to the modding community. Maybe you just picked up an old game from the bargain bin. Or maybe you’ve played some of these old mods and think it’s time to reinstall them for nostalgia’s sake.
Whatever your case may be, here are some new and popular files we’ve pulled from our community.
Dawn of War 2 – Chaos Rising: Wrath of the Blood Ravens
Here’s a mod that seeks to make Dawn of War 2 – Chaos Rising more closely resemble the lore and background information of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. The Space Marines are most affected, with their power levels being brought in line with their “movie marine” depiction in the books.
The mod features larger armies, more destructive weapons, new units like Imperial Chaplains, Vanguard and Sternguard Veterans, OrkFlash Gitz, Chaos Terminators and some reworked units like Alpha warriors and Carnifexes. Further, many of the existing units have been modified.
Command & Conquer: Generals: Final Big Editor
No, it’s not some form of massive editor — it’s a utility that allows you to extract, view, and edit files with the .big extension. This tool is not only useful for modders of both Command & Conquer: Generals and Zero Hour, but even for other games that use .big files, such as Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth.
Crysis: The Resort
This gorgeous user-made map for Crysis takes place in a large mountainous area, where a research facility has been captured by the North Koreans. Players are tasked with reclaiming the American facility, a mission that will take them through beautiful, detailed landscapes and a plot with a twist ending.
Battlefield 1942: Doug’s Weapon and Tank Mod
If you’ve ever felt the weapons in Battlefield 1942 just weren’t powerful enough, check this out. This mod is steroids for your guns and vehicles: more ammo capacity, deadly accuracy, and greater speed.
Having trouble beating X3: Terran Conflict? Or maybe you want to play the game again, but you’ve lost your old saved game? Here’s a Saved Game file that should give you everything you need.
If you’re a modder — novice or veteran — join the community and contribute your creations. You may just end up creating something that will be downloaded tens of thousands of times.
If you’re not a modder, then browse around to find great mods for your favorite games. Just use the pulldown in the top banner of this page.
